  as a stay-at-home mom, i can occasionally find a few minutes every few days to play on the computer, but the amount of activity on this forum during us working hours is pretty surprising.

  folks from other parts of the world notwithstanding, how are you american members able to post during work hours?.

  When someone uses a lot of big words in his posts, it makes me think that he is not very smart, butr rather a good thesaurus looker-upper.

  I think being open-minded and smart go hand in hand.

  Who Does Jehovah Resemble?

  as a small boy, i pictured jehovah as resembling finlay currie, the kindly old boy who played roles in solomon & sheba and the 10 commandments.. .

  later on, probably thanks to paul hogans influence, i started to picture jehovah as resembling charlton heston.. .

  i still picture him as a bearded gentleman, wearing a dressing gown and sandals, surrounded by billowing clouds.. then again if i think of the creator, or lord, he doesn't seem to be the same entity as jehovah.. strange, isn't it?.

   Sometimes I smell like a barrel of rotting fruit Stinking up the jungle under the hot tropical sun Other times I smell like thick black swamp-water Backed into your toilet on a warm summer day These are a few of my many smells Won't you come and smell me?   At YOUR Stage of Being "Out", What Do You No Longer Care About?

  some left because they found no real love in the witnesses.

  some departed because of certain doctrines that were peculiar only to jws that were weird.

  there are a number of reasons for leaving.....my question is, are those reasons still dear to you now?

  I go through the same thing right before Aunt Flo comes for a visit...And then when she comes I lose my appetite and I barely eat the entire week.

  Does hollywood affect peoples view of history and world events?

  how much do you think movies, effect people knowledge of history or even world events today?

  there was a programme on channel4 a fews weeks back basically revealing conspiracy theroies about jfk assasination to be a load of nonsense.oliver stone defended his film (which this programe had torn apart) by saying well people know its just a film and dont believe everything in movies.

  but his missed a vital point , what if the film is all a person knows of that event.

  I started a thread a while back about whether encouraging kids to believe fantasy is real would ultimately affect their sense of reality and the thread turned into a flame war.

  The accuracy of Hollywood's depiction of history is different than your topic of "poisoning children's minds with fantasy."

  If I let my son watch Forrest Gump and he actually believed that all of the events in that movie about history transpired the way they were shown, then I would seriously question my parenting skills or if he has a mental or emotional disablility

  I think Abaddon said it best:

  :It is denying them access to the education and logical tools they should naturally acquire as they grow up which allows fantasy and unfounded conjecture to be distinguished from undeniable fact or reasonable supposition.

  If you get your information about history from Hollywood, and only Hollywood, then you will not have an accurate view of history.
